Return to School Plan After Winter Break

Dear Dimmick Families,

As we approach winter break, I wanted to reach out and make sure that all our families are informed about our plan for returning to school. At this time, we plan to return to in-person learning on Monday, January 4. We will continue to follow IDPH guidelines, require masks, practice social distancing, and perform daily screenings in order to provide a safe environment for our students and staff.

We ask that all families do their part, follow IDPH guidelines, and avoid exposure to any unnecessary risks. Our ability to continue in-person learning depends on everyone in our school community doing their part. If a member of your family does test positive, has been exposed to a positive case or is awaiting test results, please be sure to contact me as soon as possible at rlinnig@dimmick175.com. Communication is essential in our ability to make the best decision we can to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

While on break, we will continue to track our local and regional data to determine if a change to our plan is warranted. Should we need to shift to remote learning, we plan to notify families as soon as possible. Please be sure to have a contingency plan in place for the week of January 4-8 in case such a change occurs.

I also want to let you know that your child’s teacher will be reaching out to you to set up additional instructional support for students who are currently struggling academically, with work completion or both. Those support sessions will be scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:45PM to 3:00PM. Students who are struggling will be expected to remain at school and get one on one or small group support until adequate progress is made.

Our staff is committed to ensuring the success of every child. To achieve this success, it will take a team effort of students, teachers, and parents. We realize this has been a challenging year, but if we are all committed and willing to do the hard work, we will succeed in our efforts.

I want to wish you and your families health and happiness during this holiday season. Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and district.

Happy Holidays!

Mr. Ryan Linnig
