8th Grade Important Graduation Information

Dear 8th Grade Parents,

First of all I would like to congratulate each of you on your child's upcoming 8th grade graduation.  Their success is the result of hard work, dedication, commitment, perseverance and a commitment by each of you, the parents, to making a high quality education a priority in your child’s life.  While we are proud of the educational opportunities and programs Dimmick is able to provide your children, it is your support and value of education that ensures their success.

On Thursday, May 31st at 8:30AM we invite you and your family to join us for the academic and extracurricular awards ceremony that will be held in the Dimmick School Gym. Following this ceremony will be the 8th grade graduation practice. We will run through the whole graduation ceremony so students know what is expected that evening. After graduation practice 8th grade students are free to leave for the remainder of the school day to have enough time to prepare for the graduation ceremony that night.

As you prepare for the 8th grade graduation ceremony please be aware of a few expectations in order to avoid any confusion. We ask that all graduates dress appropriately for the occasion.  We want our graduates to look their best as they will be representing both you and our school that night.  No shorts or flip flops.   If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call.

The school will be open by 6:15 PM. There will be no reserved seating prior to that time. We ask that the first 8-10 rows on each side be primarily for the parents, siblings and grandparents of graduates in order to ensure that they have a good view of the ceremony. Students should arrive by 6:30 PM and report to the music room to get ready for the ceremony.

This years guest speaker will be Luke Yaklich (University of Michigan Assistant Coach/Dimmick Alumni). Due to his signed agreement with the University of Michigan his picture may NOT be taken at any time. Please make sure to notify all of your guests and children of this notice.

We also ask that all guests turn off their cell phones during the ceremony. There will be refreshments provided by the 7th grade parents immediately following the ceremony in the cafeteria.

We look forward to seeing you as we recognize the achievements of another Dimmick class and expect they will do their part to continue the tradition of excellence that has come to be expected our graduates.

Congratulations and best wishes! -Mr. Linnig
